Cathy James is the owner of The Outpost. An Event Manager based in the Brisbane bush, Cathy has 18 years of experience in organising both corporate and community events such as large music festivals and high-end corporate conferences, seminars, exhibitions and galas.

Since April 2013 has been employed full time as the General Manager for the Falls Music and Arts Festival as well as the Food, Markets, Riders and Catering Manager for Splendour in the Grass.

These are two of Australia’s most unique arts and music events. Located in remote and beautiful locations – Lorne Victoria, Marion Bay Tasmania and Byron Bay New South Wales – these multi-day camping festivals present opportunities to test Cathy’s organisational and logistical skills and stretch her imagination.

When you engage The Outpost, you are able to choose from a range of event management services. Cathy is able to draw together a group of professional event staff and suppliers to make any event pain free. The Outpost takes the time consuming and sometimes tedious tasks out of your office, leaving you time to be more big picture and creative.

Cathy was previously the General Manager for arts and music events such as Bondi Summer of Fun, Shorething, Dudley Page Reserve and Sunset Sounds, SOYA and VIVID/Creative Sydney. She was also a member of the core organising team for a range of large music festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Future Music Festival, Summafieldayze and Homebake. Cathy was the Entertainment Manager for the Brisbane Royal Show for seven years and was the Production Coordinator for the Across the Great Divide Tour in 2007 and the Sunsets Tour in 2010. Her event organising career started in IT conferences, seminars and exhibitions around Australia in 1995.
